About Fit Family

Fit Family Smyrna was founded by professional trainer Robert Dothard in 2013. Since then, Fit Family has served over hundreds of clients, helping individuals meet their goals as well as create a culture of fitness and personal health within families. Robert and the Dothard Family care deeply about creating opportunities for others and making health accessible. As a result, we work hard to bring in talented trainers to partner with our clients and to work with any budget to make fitness possible.

Workouts are customized for your health and fitness needs. We can accommodate everything from para-almpyic to competitive amateur athlete to someone who’s looking to lose a few pounds and tone up. We focus on cardiovascular, strength and resistance training, and health and nutrition.

Who do you train?

Truly, the whole family. We have clients in their 70s and even 80s, some as young as middle school age, some married couples, and young professionals who come in to work out together.

Robert’s Story

After 25 years of working as a fitness expert and motivational speaker, Robert was excited to create his own space. Over the years, he recognized that many gyms and environments were not welcoming or supportive to clients ages 35 - 60. After settling outside of Atlanta, he found just the right space in Ivy Walk on the border of Smyrna and Vinings.

Robert has run trainings around the world, coached and adults alike. He has created decades of workouts in partnership with NBC-Atlanta, CNN, led the 11 Alive workouts for elven+ years, was a trainer on “Biggest Loser,” toured the country with President Clinton, and created Total Body Workout DVDs. He also is a motivational speaker. He grew up as an Army Brat; that love for community and fitness has stayed with him — you can catch him coaching local community hockey or at Fit Family!
